Darkness hadn’t even started to creep in when I heard the first tremors, the faint rumbling that signifies an approaching storm. At first it hardly registered it was so quiet and even when I realised I was hearing thunder, I shrugged it off as just a passing weather front.
That was over two hours ago and as the night closed in, the storm did too. It’s swooped in from the East across England, two hours of thunder and now that the sun has vanished the lightning has arrived in full force. From where I’m sitting I can see it arcing across the sky above me, each bolt accompanied by the crash of thunder and now the unnerving flicker of the lights. The rain is driving as heavily as it did in the early hours of Monday morning, powered by a strong bank of wind.
While I don’t usually enjoy bad weather, this storm is magnificent and certainly a sight to be seen.
