Bewitched, Bothered, Bewildered

So to say I’m more than slightly excited about the imminent release of The Dark Knight is an understatement, however I know that as a bit of a fanboi my excitement might not be shared by quite so many others. That’s why I was eager to see the result of the press screenings of the film this week to the American press at least (I’m not sure if there were screenings for press from other parts of the world yet) and I have to admit that I wasn’t quite expecting to read what I did.

Christopher Nolan has apparently scored what one journalist called a “grand slam” with this sequel, with many reports talking of standing ovations and people left speechless during the closing credits. They’re suggesting it will easily be the best film this year and unsurprisingly there’s a lot of talk of Heath Ledger having given the greatest performance of his career.

If you think I sound excited…you’re right. That said, if you think this sounds excited, wait until you see my review of The Stolen Earth.
