I can’t remember much of Dougie Howser M.D. beyond the fact that I used to watch it regularly and that even my mother remembers it. However I do remember enjoying it immensely, then being rather surprised when Neil Patrick Harris (whose name I didn’t know back then) popped up on Starship Troopers years after Dougie Howser had finished.
Then he reappeared as Barnie and I saw that he was awesome. It seems everyone else has seen the light too, as recently we had him being cast as Dr. Horrible, an excellent short musical in three acts that was absolutely hilarious before hitting you with the kind of unexpected ending I should have expected from Joss Whedon.
Since then he’s also turned up on Sesame Street doing an excellent skit as a shoe fairy and quite frankly showing up Sesame Street’s regular talent with far superior dancing and acting.
Now…an old spice advert! You think that’s an unimpressive addition to the list?
So what do you get when the world’s of Joss Whedon and How I Met Your Mother once again collide? You get the one thing everyone’s talking about and I’m afraid I’m just going to have to join them. Written by Joss Whedon, obviously inspired by the Buffy Musical, starring Neil Patrick Harris (Barney, How I Met Your Mother) and co-starring Nathan Fillion (Mal Reynolds, Firefly)…
I had just got done renewing TripleB’s Hosting Unlimited account well into it’s eleventh year (Yeah, really…I can’t quite believe that either) when I realised I haven’t done one of my stattyness posts in a while. So I felt it was long overdue for another look at the bizarre world of TripleB’s site traffic which usually involves a dollop of self-promotion stirred into a mix of truly bizarre links..
This was a bit down on April but I seemed to get a surge of interest on May 31st…my review of Silence in the Library maybe?
Out of this lot I’m apparently quite popular on a Tuesday which is when most people show up, 1,062 of you to be precise. I also get a lot of people checking the site around 6pm and 9pm on average, though a surprising number of you are still awake at 2am. (more…)
How I Met Your Mother has always been beset by renewal problems as every series draws to a close. It’s a very unique style of comedy, shot using numerous flashbacks through each episode which leads to an inability to film in front of a live studio audience. This departure from standard sitcom format combined with the odd approach to the lives of late-twenty-somethings, that of already being for the most part settled, married, looking for marriage or happy to be single and pursuing a successful career.
This hasn’t helped it get record breaking ratings, though it’s fan base is hardly small and is certainly devoted. This lack of top-of-the-line ratings combined with the fact that the executives at CBS apparently “don’t get it” mean that each series ends with the rumours that it will be axed.
With only two episodes to go in series three, How I Met Your Mother was one of the only shows on US television not to have had it’s fate announced, however tonight we had the big answer. Thanks to the rejuvenating powers of two Britney Spears cameos (Something that many fans and even the cast were suspicious of) CBS have once again announced an eleventh hour reprieve, with series four being given the green light. Our fears at not getting to see the uninterrupted tale of the Mother have been allayed once again.
